MISSION.

The Delavan Grider Community Center is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive community by providing programs and services that promote the cultural, economic, social, and physical well-being of residents within the City of Buffalo area. We aim to empower individuals of all ages through education, recreation, and community-building initiatives, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for growth and connection. Together, we are strengthening the heart of Buffalo, one person and one family at a time.
HISTORY.

On the corner of Delavan and Moselle once stood Public School #23, a historic site that became the foundation for a bold vision. A group of passionate community leaders from local block clubs lobbied then-Mayor Anthony "Tony" Masiello, advocating for a state-of-the-art facility that could serve as a beacon of hope, growth, and unity.
At the time, the Delavan Grider Community Center was located behind Grace United Church, but the community’s evolving needs called for something bigger. In 2001, the Metro Community Development Organization was established, and the old school was replaced by the Delavan Grider Community Center—a vibrant hub designed to meet the present and future needs of our neighborhood, creating a lasting legacy for generations to come.
